Efficacy Test of Several Types of Fungicide To Control Rice Leaves Gurm Disease (Rhizoctonia Solani Khun) in Mandailing

Introduction

Rice leaf fronds caused by fungus * Rhizoctonia Solani Kuhn * is one of the serious problems faced by farmers in rice producing regions in Indonesia. This disease is not only difficult to control, but also tends to spread quickly because it has many types of host plants. In an effort to find a solution, this research was conducted in Malintang Jae Village, Bukit Malintang District, Mandailing Natal Regency. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of several types of fungicides in controlling the development of the disease.

Rice leaf fronds can cause great losses for farmers, considering that rice is one of the main commodities in Indonesia. The use of fungicides as a method of disease control is very important. However, not all fungicides can provide the same results, so this research tests several types of active ingredients to find the most effective.

Materials and Methods

This study uses a non-factorial randomized group design experimental design that involves eleven different treatments. This treatment consists of various types of fungicides with different active ingredients, namely:

F0: Aquades (control): This is the control treatment, where no fungicide is applied.
F1: Mancozeb 80% (2.0 g/L): This treatment uses Mancozeb, a widely used fungicide that has been shown to be effective against various fungal diseases.
F2: Tebuconazole (50%) + TrifloxyStrobin (25%) (2.0 g/L): This treatment combines two active ingredients, Tebuconazole and TrifloxyStrobin, which have been shown to be effective against fungal diseases.
F3: 80% carbendiner (2.0 g/l): This treatment uses carbendiner, a fungicide that has been shown to be effective against various fungal diseases.
F4: Diphenoconazole 250 g/L (2.0 ml): This treatment uses Diphenoconazole, a fungicide that has been shown to be effective against fungal diseases.
F5: Mancozeb 80% + Tebuconazole (50%) + trifloxystobin (25%) (2.0 g/l + 2.0 g/l): This treatment combines three active ingredients, Mancozeb, Tebuconazole, and TrifloxyStrobin.
F6: Mancozeb 80% + carbendzim 80% (2.0 g/L + 2.0 g/L): This treatment combines two active ingredients, Mancozeb and carbendzim.

F8: Tebuconazole (50%) + TrifloxyStrobin (25%) + Carbendoce 80%(2.0 g/L + 2.0 g/L): This treatment combines three active ingredients, Tebuconazole, TrifloxyStrobin, and Carbendoce.
F9: Tebuconazole (50%) + TrifloxyStrobin (25%) + Diphenoconazole 250 g/L (2.0 g/L + 2.0 g/L): This treatment combines three active ingredients, Tebuconazole, TrifloxyStrobin, and Diphenoconazole.
F10: 80% carbendzim + diphenoconazole 250 g/l (2.0 g/l + 2.0 g/l): This treatment combines two active ingredients, carbendzim and Diphenoconazole.

Results

The results of this study indicate that the treatment with diphenoconazole 250 g/l (F4) gives the best results. This is indicated by the highest harvest production, the number of empty grains per 100 grams is the smallest, as well as the lowest level of disease.

Analysis and Explanation

Diphenoconazole, which is proven to be the most effective in this study, is a fungicide that works by inhibiting the growth of fungus that causes disease. When applied to the right dose, diphenoconazole can reduce the severity of infection and increase yields. The exact application of this active ingredient is expected to increase the resistance of rice plants to disease and optimize rice production in areas prone to diseases such as Mandailing Christmas.

The use of diphenoconazole as a fungicide has been shown to be effective in controlling rice leaf fronds, and its use is expected to increase rice production in areas prone to diseases.

Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that farmers use diphenoconazole as a fungicide to control rice leaf fronds. In addition, farmers are also expected to implement integrated management, including plant rotation and the use of rice varieties that are resistant to disease, to increase the success of controlling leaf midrib.

This research can be used as a basis for further research on the control of rice diseases that are more effective and environmentally friendly.
