Introduction

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (KNF) is a type of cancer that is often detected at an advanced stage due to initial symptoms that are not typical and hidden tumor location. According to the 2007 health profile data from the Ministry of Health, KNF was included in the 10 most types of cancer in Indonesia in the period 2004-2006 and the number of sufferers continued to increase. The search for new therapeutic targets for KNF is an urgent need, and the role of Peroxisome Proliferator Activator Gamma Receptor (PParγ) in the development of cancer has been a subject of interest in recent years. However, no significant relationship was found between PParγ's expression and primary tumor size (p = 0.160).

Discussion

This study shows that PParγ, specifically the PParγ overexpression, is often found in Squamous Cell Carcinoma cancer in the head and neck. These results reinforce the role of PParγ in the development of cancer, especially KNF. The findings that PParγ's expression has a significant relationship with the size of the lymph nodes and the KNF clinical stage shows the potential of PParγ as a new therapy target for KNF.
