Tuberculosis Multi Drug Resistant (TB MDR) is a serious disease caused by tuberculosis bacteria that is resistant to various drugs. This condition generally arises due to failure in treatment or termination of therapy before the treatment program is complete. In Medan, the General Hospital of Adam Malik Hajj (HAM) acts as one of the referral health facilities to treat MDR TB patients. However, the striking is the trend of increasing the number of patients suspected of suffering from MDR TB but does not use this referral service, which increased by 23% in 2012 and 44.9% in 2013. The increasing trend of non-utilization of MDR TB referral services poses a significant challenge to healthcare providers and policymakers .
Research Purposes
This study aims to analyze the relationship between provider factors (health service providers) and consumer factors (service users) to the use of multi -drug resistant tuberculosis in Human Rights Hospital. In this study, the population taken was all patients suspected of suffering from MDR TB, with 108 patients as samples chosen using non-probability sampling techniques. Data was collected through interviews with questionnaires and analyzed using multiple logistics regression tests with a significance level of α = 0.05. The study aims to identify the key factors influencing the utilization of MDR TB referral services and to provide recommendations for improving the utilization of these services .
Research Results
The results showed that there were positive and significant relationships between provider factors, such as medical staff attitudes, drug availability, and counseling, as well as consumer factors, such as knowledge, perceptions of diseases, perceptions of services, and clinical diagnoses, on the use of TB MDR poly in RSUP RSUP Haji Adam Malik. Among all the factors analyzed, perception of disease has a greater influence in determining the use of these services. This indicates that the level of awareness and understanding of the patient's condition can influence the decision to find appropriate care.
