Introduction

This study uses regression analysis with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method which is carried out using EViews 4.1 software. This study aims to analyze the impact of government expenditure and investment on GRDP in Medan by using time series data from 1989 to 2003. The use of time series data allows for the analysis of the long-term trends and relationships between the variables.

The data used in this study were obtained from the Regional Planning and Development Agency (Bappeda), the Investment Agency, and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Medan City. The results showed that government spending had a positive influence on GRDP in Medan, as well as investment also had a positive impact on GRDP in the area. The positive impact of government spending on GRDP suggests that the government's efforts to increase development expenditure are paying off.
