Introduction

In today's complex business environment, risk management is a crucial aspect for companies, especially in the consumer goods industry sector. The ability of companies to manage and disclose risks is essential for maintaining public confidence and stakeholders' trust. This study aims to analyze the effect of factors such as public ownership, leverage, profitability, company size, company complexity, and auditor's reputation on disclosure of risk management in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2018 to 2021 period.

Background

Previous studies on risk management have yielded varying results, highlighting the need for further research to re-test existing theories and provide a deeper understanding of the factors influencing disclosure of risk management. This study seeks to contribute to the existing body of knowledge by examining the impact of public ownership, leverage, profitability, company size, company complexity, and auditor's reputation on disclosure of risk management in manufacturing companies.

Research Methodology

The population of this study consisted of 57 manufacturing companies engaged in the consumer goods industry subsector. A purposive sampling method was used to select 26 companies, which were observed for four years, from 2018 to 2021, resulting in a total of 104 observations. The data used in this study were obtained from the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The data analysis process included descriptive statistical analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.

Research Findings

The results of this study showed that public ownership, leverage, profitability, and complexity of the company had a positive influence on disclosure of risk management. This means that the higher the level of public ownership, leverage, profitability, and complexity of the company, the greater the possibility of the company to reveal information about risk management.

However, the size of the company and the auditor's reputation did not have a significant effect on disclosure of risk management. This could be due to the fact that large companies tend to have more standard procedures in disclosing information, and auditor's reputation may not always be directly proportional to transparency in disclosure of risk management.

The Role of Interacting Factors

The combination of all factors analyzed - public ownership, leverage, profitability, company size, company complexity, and auditor's reputation - played a significant role in affecting risk management disclosure. This finding highlights the complexity of the factors influencing disclosure of risk management and the need for a comprehensive understanding of these variables.

Conclusion

This study emphasizes the importance of factors such as public ownership, leverage, profitability, and complexity of the company in influencing disclosure of risk management in manufacturing companies in the consumer goods industry subsector. These findings are crucial for investors, regulators, and other stakeholders who seek to understand how companies manage and express risks that may be faced. With a better understanding of these factors, it is hoped that companies can be more transparent in disclosing information related to risk management, thereby increasing public confidence and stakeholders' trust in the company.
