The study entitled "The Role of English Subtitles in Improving the Vocabulary of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Students in Sorkam" is a linguistic study that investigates the influence of subtitles on increasing student vocabulary. This study originated from the curiosity of the author about how subtitles, especially from the film Pikachu, can encourage and improve students' vocabulary abilities. The purpose of this study was to describe the types of content words found in the Pikachu film transcript and how subtitles play a role in encouraging and increasing student vocabulary.

To identify and classify the effect of Pikachu film subtitles on vocabulary abilities, researchers use pre-test and post-test theories. The analysis method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that in the pre-test, the average score obtained by students was only 59.8 with 9 students from 25 respondents who reached KKM (minimum completeness criteria), which means only 36% of students reached KKM. In post-test, the average value obtained increased to 79.6 with a percentage of success reaching 76%. This proves that post-test shows a significant increase and English subtitles increase student motivation and vocabulary skills by watching subtitle films.
