Antenatal care is a vital health service provided to pregnant women with the aim of maintaining the health of pregnancy, detecting labor complications early, and fulfilling the rights of every pregnant woman to receive quality antenatal services. This service is crucial for mothers to undergo a healthy pregnancy, give birth safely, and give birth to a healthy baby. However, based on the health profile at the Singosari Puskesmas in 2018, the level of antenatal care visits for K1 only reached 96.3% and K4 was 72.8%, which did not meet the minimum regional health services standards that set the K1 and K4 target of 100% each.

Research Methodology

In this study, the approach used was the Explanatory Research with the aim of explaining the factors that influence the use of antenatal care services at the Singosari Puskesmas, Pematangsiantar City. The research population consists of mothers who have babies aged less than 3 months and live in the working area of the Singosari Health Center. Of the 67 respondents involved in this study, data was collected through interviews with questionnaires and analyzed using logistics regression tests.

Results and Findings

The results showed that 79.1% of respondents used antenatal care services in full, while the other 20.9% did not use well. There are several variables that affect the use of this service, namely knowledge (p = 0.047), distance (p = 0.024), and healthy/sick perception (p = 0.024). Of the three variables, distance is the most influential factor for the decision of pregnant women to utilize antenatal care.
