Introduction

The loading and unloading workforce at Primkop TKBM Efforts to the Belawan Harbor are workers who are assigned to complete work in the targeted time, so they often work more than 8 hours a day. However, in its implementation, many of these workers have an unbalanced diet, the absence of the provision of food rations, and inadequate salaries. This is a concern, especially related to their nutritional status. This study aims to determine the relationship between workload and nutritional status among loading and unloading labor at the port in 2016.

The loading and unloading workforce at Primkop TKBM Efforts to the Belawan Harbor are a crucial part of the port's operations. They are responsible for loading and unloading cargo from ships, which is a physically demanding task that requires a lot of energy and strength. This research is a quantitative research with cross-sectional design. The sample used consisted of all workers who were on duty on a ship anchored during the study, totaling 48 people. To analyze data, Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests are used which aims to see whether there is a relationship between workload and nutritional status.

Research Result

From the results of the calculation of the Body Mass Index (IMT), information was obtained that 18 people (33.33%) were in the underweight category, 16 people (37.5%) had normal nutritional status, 11 people (22.91%) were classified as overweight, and 3 people (6.26%) are included in the category of obesity. In addition, based on workload measurements using the Workload Assessment (WLA) method, it was found that 45 people (93.75%) experienced an abnormal workload (more than 100%), while only 3 people (6.25%) had workload below 100%.

The resulting statistics indicate the P value of 0.033, which means there is a significant relationship between the workload and the nutritional status of the loading and unloading labor. In other words, the higher the workload, the more likely the nutritional status of workers is not optimal.

Discussion

The results of this study indicate that high workloads have the potential to influence the nutritional status of the workforce. This is because high workloads can lead to fatigue, stress, and other health problems, which can further exacerbate nutritional problems. Moreover, high workloads can also lead to a lack of time for workers to prepare and eat healthy meals, which can further exacerbate nutritional problems.
