Introduction

Vegetative growth in Dendrobium sp. has been the focus of research conducted in the Glasshouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan, from August to December 2005. This study aims to reveal the effect of various types of B vitamins on the vegetative growth of the Dendrobium sp. The importance of understanding the impact of vitamin B on plant growth cannot be overstated, as it plays a crucial role in various metabolic processes, including photosynthesis, which is essential for plant growth and development.

Methodology

This study uses a non-factorial random group design with three replications. The treatment given includes: VO (without vitamin B), VI (Vitamin B1 Start), V2 (Vitamin B1 IPI), V3 (Vitamin B6 Kimia Farma), V4 (Vitamin B12 IPI), and V5 (Vitamin B IPI complex). The experimental design allows for the comparison of the effects of different types of vitamin B on the vegetative growth of Dendrobium sp.

Results

The results of this study showed that the treatment of V3 (Vitamin B6 Kimia Farma) produced a greater number of shoots than other treatments. However, there is no significant difference in plant height, number of leaves, and leaf area produced from various types of vitamin B. These findings suggest that vitamin B6 may play a specific role in promoting shoot growth in Dendrobium sp.
