As many as 40 students who met the inclusion criteria, namely 9-12 years old, experienced malocclusion, never received orthodontic treatment, and were willing to be a respondent, were chosen to be included in the study. The research process began with intraoral photo taking and continued with an interview using the cohip-SF 19 questionnaire that has been provided.

Results

The results of the study showed that 15 of the 40 respondents (37.5%) did not feel the negative impact on their quality of life, so that it could be categorized as having good OHRQOL. However, 25 other respondents (62.5%) showed that the condition of malocclusion had a negative effect on their quality of life, which means their OHRQOL was quite bad.

Discussion

Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that malocclusion has a significant impact on the quality of life of children, especially in terms of dental and oral health. This condition often leads to pain, difficulty in functioning, and psychological impacts such as decreased self-confidence. This is very important to be considered by educators and parents, so that they are more aware of dental health problems that their children may experience.
