The Influence of the Quality of Village Midwife Services on Maternal Satisfaction Participants in Labor Guarantees in the Working Area of the Gandapura Puskesmas Bireuen Regency
Introduction
The delivery guarantee program (Jampersal) is a crucial initiative aimed at providing assistance to pregnant and childbirth, as well as newborns from various levels of society. The primary objective of Jampersal is to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. However, in the Gandapura Health Center, Bireuen Regency, the maternal and infant mortality rates remain relatively high. In 2012, there were 5 maternal deaths and 8 infant deaths. This condition is allegedly related to the quality of village midwife services that are unsatisfactory.
Background
The quality of village midwife services is a critical factor in determining the satisfaction of maternity participants in Jampersal. The quality of service includes reliability, responsiveness, guarantees, empathy, and physical evidence. The village midwife plays a vital role in providing healthcare services to pregnant women and new mothers. However, the quality of service provided by village midwives in the Gandapura Health Center has been reported to be unsatisfactory.
Methodology
A survey explanation was conducted in April-July 2013 to understand the effect of the quality of village midwife services on the satisfaction of maternity participants in Jampersal. The population of this study was all the women participating in Jampersal who gave birth in the working area of the Gandapura Health Center, which was 73 people. Research samples were taken as many as 65 people with simple random sampling techniques. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires and analyzed using multiple regression tests with a significance level of α = 0.05.
Results
The results showed that statistically, the quality of service, including reliability, responsiveness, guarantees, empathy, and physical evidence, as well as the performance of the village midwife, affected the satisfaction of the mother's mother participants. The dimensions of reliability are the most influential factors for maternal satisfaction.
Discussion
The results of this study highlight the importance of improving the quality of village midwife services in terms of reliability, responsiveness, guarantees, empathy, and physical evidence. The performance of village midwives also needs to be improved through training, monitoring, and evaluation. By paying attention to these aspects, it is hoped that the Jampersal program can run more effectively and have a positive impact on the health of the mother and baby in the working area of the Gandapura Health Center.
