Introduction

This study employed a survey method to collect data on the morphological variations of the Zingiberaceae species found in the forest park.

The study site was located in Bukit Barisan Forest Park, Karo Regency, North Sumatra, which is known for its rich biodiversity. The phenetic analysis revealed that the Zingiberaceae species at the study site could be grouped into three categories based on their similarities. The first group consisted of one genus with two species, namely Horstedtia reticulate and Horstedtia Scyphifera, which had a level of similarity between 78-83%. The second group included three genera with seven species, namely Globba Patens, Globba Paniculata, Globba Marantina, Globba Balula, Hedychium sp., Hedychium Cylindricum, and Zingiber Multibracteatum, with similarities ranging from 64-83%. The third group consisted of three genera with five species, namely Amomum Lappaceum, Etloura sp.1, Etloura sp.2, Etloura sp.3, and Electariopsis sp., which showed a level of similarity between 59-83%.
