Introduction

In the current renewable energy era, the use of solar energy is increasingly important. One way to maximize energy collection from solar panels is to use a photovoltaic maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system. This article discusses the design of the MPPT tool that uses the Arduino-based Fuzzy Logic Controller method, which is designed to optimize power taking from a solar panel with a capacity of 150 WP.

The Importance of MPPT Systems

MPPT systems play a crucial role in maximizing energy collection from solar panels. By tracking the maximum power point, these systems can ensure that the solar panel operates at its optimal efficiency, resulting in increased energy production. System Design

The MPPT tool designed in this study consists of a series of buck-boost converters combined with Arduino Nano. Arduino functions as a regulator of the Duty Cycle using the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) method based on the Fuzzy Logic Controller algorithm. This system is also equipped with a voltage sensor and current that provides feedback to ensure proper power settings. In this system, mosfet is used as a switching that operates at high frequencies to regulate the entry voltage of the solar panel.

The buck-boost converter circuit is designed in the type of inverting, so that the output voltage polarity is contrary to the supply voltage. Therefore, the op-amp is needed as a differential amplifier to measure the output voltage accurately. The load used in this study is a 12 V and 7.2 AH lead-acid battery.

Environmental Effects and Fuzzy Logic Methods

Power collection from solar panels is strongly influenced by environmental conditions, such as light intensity and temperature. In addition, changes in the connected load can also affect the voltage and current produced. Therefore, to deal with uncertainty in this voltage change, the Fuzzy Logic Controller method is used. This method regulates the width of PWM pulses dynamically so that the output voltage remains stable at 14 V at the maximum power point.

The Fuzzy Logic Controller implementation provides significant benefits in overcoming variations that occur due to environmental changes. This system is able to adapt quickly and efficiently to maximize the output of the solar panel.

The Fuzzy Logic Controller algorithm used in this study is based on the Mamdani fuzzy inference system. This system consists of three main components: fuzzification, rule base, and defuzzification. The defuzzification process then converts the fuzzy output into a crisp value.

The design of the photovoltaic maximum power point tracking with the Arduino-based Fuzzy Logic Controller method shows great potential in increasing the efficiency of the use of solar energy.
