Background

After treatment, mice are sacrificed using chloroform to take blood samples to be tested for creatinine and serum urea levels. The research data were analyzed using the One-way Anova test and continued with the Post Hoc Tukey test to see the differences between groups.

The results of the analysis using the ANOVA test showed that the administration of Puguntano herbal ethanol extract with a dose of 250 mg/kg BW and 500 mg/kg BW significantly reduced urea levels in serum compared to negative control groups that were only given CMC (p <0.05). However, the two doses do not show a significant difference in the creatinine levels of rat serum.

Conclusion

From the results of the study it can be concluded that ethanol extract from Puguntano herbs has the potential to be good for kidney health, especially at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW. These findings highlight the importance of further research related to the use of herbal extracts in protecting vital organs, especially the kidneys, from damage due to conventional treatment such as paracetamol. Given the side effects that may be caused by drugs, the use of herbal extracts as adjuvants in treatment can be a promising alternative to improve kidney health.
