Cut Meutia Regional Hospital is one of the major hospitals in Aceh Province, and it has been facing a surge in the number of inpatients over the past three years (2007-2009). Despite the increasing demand for healthcare services, the hospital has been struggling to meet the expectations of patients. Many patients have complained about the quality of services, including long waiting times, inadequate communication, and lack of empathy from medical personnel.

Methodology

This study employed an explanatory research method, involving 95 inpatients as a sample taken systematically in the April-June 2010 period. The data collected was analyzed using multiple linear regression to examine the relationship between quality health services and patient satisfaction.

Results

The results of the analysis showed that all variables of quality health services, namely tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, significantly affect patient satisfaction. Among the five variables, empathic variables have the most dominant influence on patient satisfaction. This finding suggests that patients feel very influenced by the attitudes and behavior of nurses and other medical personnel in providing services.
