Methodology

The analysis method used in this study was Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) with the help of EViews software 9. The data used consists of primary and secondary data, where primary data is obtained from the questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents. Meanwhile, secondary data was collected from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for the 2013-2017 period, which functions as supporting data to monitor the development of research objects from year to year.

Results

The results of the study show that the age of first marriage and income level had no significant effect on TFR in Asahan Regency. However, partially, the regression results show that the desired number of children and education levels have a significant influence on TFR in Asahan Regency at a 5% confidence level.

Conclusion

Knowing the determination of fertility in Asahan Regency is an important step to develop better policies in population development. This study suggested that related parties, such as local governments and educational institutions, focus on increasing access to education and knowledge about family planning. Increased awareness of the importance of family planning and education can have a positive impact not only for individuals, but also for the overall social and economic development of the region. Thus, the management of proper demographic components can be a benchmark for the success of development in Asahan Regency.

Recommendations

Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:

Local governments and educational institutions should focus on increasing access to education and knowledge about family planning.
Awareness campaigns should be conducted to educate the public about the importance of family planning and reproductive health.
Policies should be developed to support family planning and reproductive health, such as providing access to family planning services and education.
Research should be conducted to further understand the factors that affect fertility in Asahan Regency and to identify effective strategies for improving fertility rates.

This study has several limitations that should be noted. Firstly, the sample size is relatively small, which may limit the generalizability of the findings.
