Research Methodology

This study employed an experimental approach with a One-Shot Case Study design. A total of 100 respondents were selected from the population of cigarette consumers in the city of Medan. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, where samples were taken based on certain criteria relevant to the research. After exposure to the advertising video ads, consumer attitudes were measured using a predetermined scale. Data analysis was carried out using a contingency coefficient to find out the relationship between ad creativity and consumer attitudes, as well as descriptive techniques to describe consumer assessment of the creativity of these advertising.

Research Results

The results of this study showed a significant relationship between the creativity of Brand X cigarette advertising and consumer attitudes, with a contingency coefficient value of 0.432. This indicates that the more creative the advertisements that are shown, the more positive the attitude of consumers towards the product. Furthermore, the aspect that is considered the best in Brand X cigarette advertisements is "Play on Words," where 49 respondents (49%) stated that they feel impressed with the use of creative words in the ad.
