The Influence of K-Pop Culture on the Use of Indonesian in the WhatsApp Group
Introduction
In the current era of globalization, popular culture from South Korea, especially K-Pop, has become a phenomenon among teenagers in Indonesia. Many of them actively interact in the WhatsApp group dedicated to their idols. This study aims to describe the use of Indonesian in the WhatsApp group consisting of K-Pop fans. The approach used is sociolinguistics, which links language with society and culture. Understanding the influence of K-Pop culture on the use of Indonesian in the WhatsApp group is crucial in today's digital age, where language and culture are constantly evolving .
Methodology
To analyze the use of language in the context of friendship among fans, Greenfield theory is used. Meanwhile, to identify language events that occur in everyday interaction, Dell Hymes theory is adopted. The data collection method is carried out using a survey, where the technique used is a questionnaire distribution in the form of Google Form. The use of a survey as a data collection method allows for a comprehensive understanding of the language use in the WhatsApp group .
Results
The results showed that the use of Indonesian among Indonesian young people in the context of friendship was very significant. Of the total 340 frequency of language use, 54% use Indonesian well, while 44% of them show the use of language mixtures. This shows that despite the influence of K-Pop culture, Indonesian identity remains strong among teenagers. The results indicate that the use of Indonesian is still dominant in the WhatsApp group, despite the influence of K-Pop culture .
Analysis of Language Events
Furthermore, in the analysis of language events, there were 68 respondents who gave answers to 18 questions. Some of the main findings of them are:

The use of Indonesian dominates, with an average of 44.1% of respondents always use Indonesian.

The average use of greeting words in Indonesian reached 39.71%.

Conclusion
Overall, this finding indicates that despite the influence of K-Pop culture is getting stronger, the use of Indonesian in daily interaction in the WhatsApp group continues to dominate. The percentage of use of Indonesian which reaches 50% shows that the identity of the local language still survives, even in the context where foreign cultures are very influential. The use of Indonesian in the WhatsApp group is a reflection of the cultural values and identity of the respondents .
