Introduction
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels due to disruption of insulin secretion, insulin resistance, or both. This disease is one of the commonly found chronic diseases, even some sufferers are not aware of their condition until the specific symptoms appear. The importance of knowledge about the management of tooth pre-eradication in DM patients for health workers, especially Clinical Registrar Students, cannot be denied . Good knowledge can help prevent complications during and after tooth extraction procedures.
Background
The Faculty of Dentistry, University of North Sumatra, is one of the leading institutions in dental education in Indonesia. The Clinical Registrar Students at this faculty are in their final year of study and are preparing to become dental professionals. It is essential to assess their level of knowledge about pre-eradication in DM patients to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide safe and effective dental care.
Methodology
A study was conducted to assess the level of knowledge of Clinical Registrar Students at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of North Sumatra, about pre-eradication in DM patients. A total of 106 students became respondents in this study, chosen by purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria . An online questionnaire consisting of 14 questions was used to collect data.
Results
The results showed that most of the clinical registrar students, 104 people (98.1%), had a good level of knowledge about tooth pre-conflict in DM patients . Only 2 people (1.9%) have enough knowledge. Although the results of the study showed a good level of knowledge in general, it is essential to continue to encourage clinical registrar students to improve and renew their knowledge about DM patient management .
