Introduction

Sprouts caused by the mushroom of athelial rolfsii (Curzi) are a serious threat to soybean plants (Glycine max (L.) Merril). This fungus has mycelium that looks like a neatly arranged white thread, resembling cotton. The impact of this disease can be devastating, resulting in significant losses for soybean farmers. In recent years, researchers have been exploring alternative methods to control this disease, focusing on the use of beneficial microorganisms such as Rizobacteria for Plant Growth (RPTT). This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of five types of RPTT in suppressing the growth of A. rolfsii and to determine the most effective type of RPTT in controlling the pathogen.

Background

Soybean is one of the most widely cultivated crops in the world, and Indonesia is one of the largest producers of soybeans. However, the growth of soybean plants is often threatened by various diseases, including the fungal disease caused by A. rolfsii. Rolfsii + Aeromonas Hydrophila), R3 (A. Rolfsii + Burkholderia Cepacia), R4 (A. Rolfsii + Serratia Ficaria), R5 (A. Rolfsii + Pantoea spp. 2), and R6 (A. Rolfsii + Vibrio Alginolyticus).

Results

The results showed that the treatment of R1 (A. Rolfsii) had the highest percentage of disease severity of 50%, while the treatment of R3, R5, and R6 showed the severity of 0%, which indicated success in controlling pathogens. The results also showed that the application of PGPR such as Burkholderia Cepacia, Pantoea spp. 2, and Vibrio alginolyticus significantly decreases both the severity and the incidence of sprouts. This decrease indicates that these bacteria can function as effective biological control agents.
