Introduction

The demand for shallots in Indonesia continues to rise, driven by increasing consumer demand. The study was conducted on residents' land in Tanjung Sari Village, Medan Selayang District, Medan, North Sumatra, at an altitude of about 25 meters above sea level from August to November 2020.

Background

Shallot production in Indonesia is a significant contributor to the country's agricultural sector. The study was conducted on residents' land in Tanjung Sari Village, Medan Selayang District, Medan, North Sumatra, at an altitude of about 25 meters above sea level from August to November 2020.

Results

The results of this study showed that the administration of ZA fertilizer did not have a significant impact on all observed variables. However, the Paclobutrazol application at a concentration of 30 ppm has a significant effect on the dry weight of the tubers and the dry weight of the plant residue. The interaction between the application of 75 kg ZA/Ha and Paclobutrazol 30 ppm also shows a significant effect on the onion harvest index.

Analysis of Research Results

This discovery provides an important picture of the effectiveness of ZA and Paclobutrazol fertilizers in supporting the growth of Sanren F1 varieties of onions. Although the applied ZA fertilizer does not show significant results, it is important to note that soil conditions, climate, and other factors can affect the results. Based on the results of this study, the following recommendations are made:
