Medan City, one of the major cities in North Sumatra, has recorded the highest traffic accident rate in the region, according to data from the 2019 Central Statistics Agency. This alarming rate has sparked concerns about the factors contributing to these accidents, with one of the key factors being the driver's self-control. Self-control, as defined by Baumeister, Vohs, and Tice (2007), is a crucial aspect of individual behavior that can be influenced by social values and expectations in society. This study aims to explore the relationship between self-control and two types of driving behavior: prosocial driving behavior and aggressive driving behavior.
