Introduction
The Deli Serdang Regency is home to a factory that produces household appliances from wood, where workers are exposed to wood dust in low concentrations. Although the concentration of inhaled dust is relatively low, the long-term impact of this exposure can cause abnormalities in the respiratory tract, such as restrictions, obstruction, or even a combination of both. To assess the health condition of these workers, a lung physiology examination is carried out, which is an important indicator in detecting changes in pathology in the respiratory tract. This article aims to discuss the profile of respiratory abnormalities and pulmonary physiology tests on household appliance processing factory workers from wood in Deli Serdang Regency.
Research Methodology
This research is analytic with a latitude cutting approach. In this study, a sample of 39 workers was taken directly exposed to wood dust at PT Chitra Kalpika Mas. As a comparison, there are 7 workers who are not exposed to wood dust, namely office workers. Data is collected through a questionnaire that includes basic information such as gender, age, work unit, height, weight, length of work, and a history of smoking. In addition, the examination of lung physiology is carried out using a Spirometry to get more accurate results.
Research Result
From a total of 39 observable subjects, the results of the Spirometric examination showed that there were 9 people (23%) experiencing restriction abnormalities, 7 people (18%) had a combination abnormality, while 23 people (59%) showed normal spiritual results. These results indicate that although most workers do not show abnormalities, there is a group of workers who must receive more attention due to interference with lung function.

From this study, it can be concluded that factors such as smoking, working period, workplace, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) have no significant relationship with lung function disorders. This shows that despite the working conditions in a risky factory, there are many other variables that can affect the health of workers' breathing. This study also highlighted the importance of routine health monitoring for workers exposed to wood dust, as well as the need to increase awareness of health risks associated with the work.
