Introduction

In recent years, the ornamental plant industry has experienced significant growth, driven by increasing demand and competitive selling prices. This has created new business opportunities for farmers, including women, who are increasingly taking on the role of breadwinners in their families. In Bangun Sari Village, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency, many women are involved in the cultivation of ornamental plants, both as housewives and breadwinners, to meet the needs of their families due to insufficient husband's income. This study aims to understand the effect of female dual roles on family conflict and describe their role in supporting the family economy.

The Significance of Female Dual Roles in Ornamental Plant Farming

The female double role has become an important phenomenon in many parts of the world, including Indonesia. Women are not only expected to manage their households but also to contribute to the family income. In the context of ornamental plant farming, women are taking on a significant role in cultivating and selling these plants, which has become a lucrative business. However, this dual role can also create conflicts within the family, particularly when women are expected to balance their work and family responsibilities.

Research Methodology

This study uses an associative method with a quantitative approach to investigate the effect of female dual roles on family conflict. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews with 62 female respondents involved in the cultivation of ornamental plants. The respondents' criteria include women aged between 19 to 65 years, have worked in the field of ornamental plants for at least one year, and are married. Data analysis was carried out using simple linear regression techniques, T test, and determinant coefficient.

Determinant Coefficient: The determinant coefficient value of 0.806 shows that the female double role can explain 80.6% of the conflict that occurs in the family.
