Introduction

The increasing need for clean water sources and reduced access to fresh water has led to a significant challenge in many coastal areas. Materials and Methods

The activated carbon from Kepok banana peels was made through a pyrolysis process at 350 ℃ for 30 minutes. The adsorbent was then printed using a hydraulic compressive engine with a mass load of 6 tons for 10 minutes, with a variety of different zeolite and carbon compositions of Kepok banana skin, which is 75%: 25%, 80%: 20%, 85%: 15%, 90 %: 10%, 95%: 5%, 0%: 100%, and 100%: 0%. Furthermore, the adsorbent was physically activated at 600 ℃ for 4 hours.

Results

The test results showed that physical characteristics such as porosity and water absorption increase along with the increase in the number of activated carbon fillers from Kepok banana peels, with the optimal value found in the composition of 80%: 20%. However, the value of violence and density tends to decrease with an increase in activated carbon fillers. The formation of the O-H Function Cluster (3200-3700 cm-1), C-H (1340-1470 cm-1), and TO4 [SIO4] (1000-1100 cm-1) in the adsorbent was also observed. The diffraction pattern produced in the range of 2θ = 25 ° - 30 ° shows the amorphous nature of all variations of the adsorbent composition.

Discussion

The results of this study indicate that the combination of zeolite and activated carbon from Kepok banana peels shows a significant potential in the application of water treatment, especially in an effort to reduce sea water salinity. The sustainability of the use of natural ingredients such as Kepok banana peels also makes a positive contribution to the environment by reducing organic waste. Further research in this field is expected to produce more efficient and environmentally friendly methods for water treatment.
