Nusantara III Plantation, a leading agribusiness company, has recognized the importance of human resources competency in driving business success. In this study, we aim to analyze the effect of human resources competency on employee performance at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III Deli Serdang-2 Sei Karang Galang.

Background

PT. Nusantara III Plantation is a world-class agribusiness company that seeks to become a leader in the industry. The company has a vision to implement the best business governance and achieve excellent performance. To achieve this vision, PT. Nusantara III Plantation has adopted a competency-based human resource management (CBHRM) approach. CBHRM is a strategic approach to managing human resources that focuses on developing competencies to improve employee performance. The approach includes various aspects, such as recruitment and selection, training, performance appraisal, awards, and pension programs.

Methodology

This study uses a correlational method with quantitative analysis to examine the relationship between human resources competency and employee performance. The research sample consisted of 60 employees selected from PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III Deli Serdang-2 Sei Karang Galang. Data was collected through questionnaires and observations. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that the competence of human resources affects the performance of employees at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III Deli Serdang-2 Sei Karang Galang.

Results

The results of the analysis using the Product Moment correlation coefficient showed a strong positive relationship between human resources competency and employee performance, with a value of R = 0.63. This indicates that there is a significant influence between the two variables. Furthermore, the analysis of the determinant coefficient shows that the competence of human resources can affect employee performance by 39.69%. The remaining 60.31% of employee performance is influenced by other factors that are not included in this study.

Discussion

The findings of this study suggest that human resources competency has a significant influence on employee performance at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III Deli Serdang-2 Sei Karang Galang. This is consistent with previous studies that have shown a positive relationship between human resources competency and organizational performance. The results of this study also highlight the importance of investing in the development of employee competencies to achieve better performance.

In conclusion, this study has demonstrated the effect of human resources competency on employee performance at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III Deli Serdang-2 Sei Karang Galang. The findings of this study have important implications for companies, particularly PT. Nusantara III Plantation, to continue to develop and improve the competence of human resources in order to achieve better performance. The application of CBHRM as a human resource management strategy can help companies in creating a conducive work environment, where employees feel valued and encouraged to develop themselves.
