Introduction

The decision to purchase instant noodles is a common phenomenon among students, particularly those in the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of North Sumatra (USU). With the increasing demand for convenient and affordable food, instant noodles have become a staple in many students' diets. However, the factors that influence the decision to purchase instant noodles are not well understood. This study aims to examine the effect of consumer involvement and differences between brands on the decision to purchase instant noodles in USU Faculty of Agriculture students.

However, the decision to purchase instant noodles is not solely based on these factors. Consumer involvement and differences between brands play a significant role in shaping the purchasing decisions of students. Methodology

This study used a quantitative approach to collect data from USU Faculty of Agriculture students who have consumed instant noodles. A purposive sampling technique was used to select the target population, which consisted of students who have purchased instant noodles in the past. A questionnaire was administered to collect data on consumer involvement and differences between brands. The data was analyzed using a Likert scale and linear regression analysis.

Results

The results of this study showed that consumer involvement and differences between brands together had a positive and significant influence on the decision to purchase instant noodles in USU Faculty of Agriculture students. The Adjusted R Square value of 62.1% indicates that the two variables can explain 62.1% of the variance in the decision to purchase instant noodles.
