Middle school students are expected to be able to think independently, manage, plan, and direct their own learning to complete academic responsibility. To support this learning independence, academic self-efficacy is needed - namely the ability to manage and carry out the steps needed to complete the task. This article discusses the relationship between academic self-efficacy and learning independence in students of Parulian 2 Medan Middle School.

Academic self-efficacy is a crucial factor in determining a student's ability to learn independently. It refers to the confidence and ability of students to achieve learning goals.
