Methodology

The methods used in this study are descriptive analysis, Multi-attribute Fishbein attitude model, and scoring technique. Descriptive analysis was used to describe the demographic characteristics of the respondents and their purchasing behavior. The Multi-attribute Fishbein attitude model was used to evaluate the level of trust and interest in papaya fruit attributes during the purchase process. Scoring technique was used to calculate the evaluation scores of the attributes.

Results

The results of this study showed a significant difference in consumer purchasing decisions on California papaya fruit. The attributes that are considered most important by consumers are taste, with an evaluation score of the level of interest of 4.67. Meanwhile, the attributes most trusted by consumers when buying are the price and texture of fruit flesh, with the same level of evaluation score of 4.00. In consumer attitude analysis, price attributes get a value of 16.12, taste 18.35, and the texture of fruit flesh is 16.68, all of which are responded positively by consumers. On the other hand, the color attribute of the fruit with a value of 14.67 and the size of the 13.32 fruit is addressed neutrally by consumers.
