Introduction

Water is the key to life for plants, including petai (Parkia Speciosa). Lack of water in the long term can be fatal, even causing death. However, nature has created a brilliant solution in the form of mycorrhizae, soil microorganisms that play an important role in increasing the ability of plants to absorb water and nutrients, such as phosphate. Petai, known as a food crop and traditional medicine, has great economic and ecological potential. This study was conducted to reveal the effect of mycorrhizal doses and watering intervals on the growth of petai, which was carried out in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, in the October 2021-February 2022 period.

The growth parameters examined in this study include high increase, stem diameter, number, number leaves, root structure, wet and dry weight, and roots. The results show that the provision of mycorrhiza only has a significant effect on high increase, while watering intervals have a significant effect on high increases and the number of leaves. The interaction between mycorrhizal doses and watering intervals does not show a significant effect on the growth of petai seeds.
