This study aims to examine the effect of Triangle Family Therapy on family stress in caring for individuals with schizophrenia in the Special Hospital of the Jiwa Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ildrem.

Caring for someone suffering from schizophrenia does not only affect the individual, but can also affect the dynamics and welfare of all family members. Stress experienced by family members can arise due to various factors, such as changing roles, heavy responsibility burdens, and concerns about the health conditions of family members who experience schizophrenia. Respondents consisted of a patient's family diagnosed with schizophrenia in the UPTD outpatient room Special Hospital Prof. Muhammad Ildrem Medan. The perceived stress questionnaire (PSQ) was used as a measurement instrument to assess stress levels. Data analysis was carried out using independent t-test and paired t-test, with a significant P value at 0.00 (<0.05).

Results

The results of this study showed that triangle family therapy proved effective in reducing family stress that treats individuals with schizophrenia. The implementation of this therapy not only decreased stress, but also improved family coping skills and improved overall quality of life. The success of the Triangle Family Therapy in this study shows the importance of a family-oriented approach in caring for complex mental conditions.
