In Jaharun Village, Galang District, Deli Serdang Regency, community forests have been established with the aim of generating income and preserving the forest environment. This study aims to compare the financial feasibility of two community forest business models: Monoculture community forest with rubber plants (Hevea Brasiliensis) and Mixed community forest with agarwood plants (Aquilaria malaccensis) as the main crop.

Background

Community Forest is defined as a forest that grows on community-owned land with a minimum of 0.25 hectares and the dominance of wooden plants (more than 50%). This type of forest has great potential in providing wood and non-wood forest products, which can be a source of income for the community. The value of BCR in the Monoculture Community Forest Business is 2.82, while the value of BCR in mixed community forest businesses reaches 3.91. The higher the BCR value, the better the rate of return of investment.
