Mutans colony was calculated visually.

The results showed that there were significant differences in the number of S. mutans between the two groups. The average S. mutans colony in children with SECC recorded 17.00 ± 6.98 CFU/ml, while in caries-free children, the average was only 6.38 ± 7.09 CFU/ml. The Mann Whitney analysis test showed a significant difference between the two groups, with a P value of <0.05.
