Introduction

The determination of ammonia (NH3) and fluoride (F) levels in wastewater and river water is crucial in maintaining the quality of the environment and public health. In this study, UV-Visible spectrophotometry methods were used to determine the levels of ammonia and fluoride in wastewater and river water. The measurement was carried out with a spectroquant Nova 60 device, at a wavelength of 580 Nm. Measurement results from various samples are expressed in units of mg/l.

Analysis Results

The analysis results show ammonia levels in wastewater samples as follows:

Wastewater samples with code 280: 0.23 mg/l
Wastewater samples with code 281: 0.09 mg/l
Wastewater samples with code 282: 0.45 mg/l

While the levels of ammonia in river water samples are:

River water samples with code 280: 0.13 mg/l
River water samples with code 281: 0.013 mg/l
River water samples with code 282: 0.012 mg/l

For fluoride levels, the results obtained from wastewater samples are as follows:

Wastewater samples with code 280: 0.02 mg/l
Wastewater samples with code 281: 0.13 mg/l
Wastewater samples with code 282: 0.23 mg/l

Meanwhile, fluoride levels in river water samples are recorded as follows:

River water samples with code 280: 0.19 mg/l
River water samples with code 281: 0.01 mg/l
River water samples with code 282: 0.18 mg/l

Conformity with Quality Standards

Seeing the results of the analysis above, the levels of ammonia and fluoride in all samples of wastewater still meet the quality standards set in Permen-LH No. 05 of 2014. In addition, the levels of ammonia and fluoride in river water samples also meet the quality standards in accordance with Government Regulation No. 82 December 14, 2001.
