Diversity of Water Birds in the Labu Beach Area of Deli Serdang Regency: A Study on the Importance of Wetland Conservation

Introduction

Water birds are a group of birds that depend on wetlands as a place to multiply, rest, and find food. During the three months of study, it was found as many as thirty-eight species of water birds classified in eight families and thirty genera. The results showed that the highest diversity value was found on the new beach in February with a value of 2.8, while the lowest diversity value was found on Ancol beach with a value of 0.88. The highest wealth index was detected at Muara Indah Beach in February with a value of 4.8, while the lowest wealth index was found at Ancol Beach in April with a value of 1.2.
