Employee attachment or employee engagement is a crucial aspect of an organization's success, as it directly affects an employee's involvement, satisfaction, and enthusiasm in carrying out their duties. This attachment can be recognized through three main aspects: vigor (spirit), dedication (dedication), and absorption (in-depth involvement) (Schaaufeli and Bakker, 2004). Understanding the differences in employee attachment between various generations is essential for organizations to design effective human resource management strategies. This study aims to identify the differences in the level of attachment between generation X and Y employees in the PLN of the North Sumatra Region Main Unit.

Methodology

This study involved 185 employees, consisting of 91 generation X employees and 94 Y generation employees, in the PLN region. A quantitative method was used to collect data through the scale of employee attachment, which was arranged based on aspects of vigor, dedication, and absorption. An independent sample t-test analysis was used to analyze the collected data. The results showed a significance value of 0.000 and T count of -3,749, indicating a significant difference between the attachment of employees of generations X and Y, with generation X obtaining a higher average score.
